The Truth Behind the Scenes at the Animal Care and Control Shelter of New York City

Cofounders Brenda Bush and Alex Aliksanyan with Buddy, the inspiration for The Buddy Fund

According to DogsInDanger.com website, their site is an award-winning website owned and operated by The Buddy Fund Inc. and was founded by two dog lovers, Alex Aliksanyan and Brenda Bush, both directors of The Buddy Fund. The website’s goal is (1) to get as many dogs adopted into loving homes and (2) o raise awareness that numerous dogs are being killed in shelters.

Alex and Brenda also have a weekly radio show on WABC 77 am radio in NYC. The show is available over the Internet while it’s on the air, and later it is available in the following ways: podcast via iTunes or on demand on the WABC 77 website and DogsinDanger.com Radio Hour. On June 5, 2011, Alex and Brenda exposed the truth about the conditions at Animal Care and Control of New York (ACC) animal shelter and interviewed Emily Tanen a former ACC employee who was fired for presenting the dogs on Death Row in more appealing photos. The show is featured in this blog post. So just click on the arrow to hear it.

The first person interviewed is a person who is currently working at ACC. Her voice is disguised, and the horrors that she, and later on, Emily describes are difficult to listen to. I am horrified that this is going on in New York City. A city that many view as an enlightened city, and not a city of the Middle Ages.
